Yves Defalque, the General Director of Vatel Switzerland, recognizes this: “Both finance and hotel management schools are Swiss specialties known throughout the world!” Though the school, which opened in 2010, now has 250 students, it was still lacking a “summit” (another Swiss specialty!): an MBA in Finance & Project Development.
Launched in September 2018, this is the only specialization of its kind in Switzerland. Courses, given in English, will teach students “everything that a hospitality entrepreneur must know to analyze a situation, anticipate commitments, find sources of funding, etc. We’ll also open this program to future start-ups, thus responding to the new momentum our current generations have.” Corporate strategy and innovation, economic realities of the hospitality industry, financial management, as well as entrepreneurship will be in the curriculum, with other more general subjects such as HR, marketing, revenue management, and foreign languages. Business cases that real companies will submit to students are also important.
Enough to attract many students from Vatel and elsewhere. Those holding bachelor’s degrees from business schools will be able to take the passerelle course to join Vatel’s MBA programs. They’ll find a campus atmosphere where they’ll meet French and English-speaking students with an application hotel right on the campus.
